Marvelous Minnesota

February 6th - February 11th

MAGNIFICENT MINNESOTA
FEBRUARY 6th – 11th

The land of Paul Bunyon: where the trees are bigger, the lakes more numerous and the snow much deeper.  (All this according to:  anyone from Minnesota).

Some of those superlatives might be slight exaggerations, but there’s no denying the quality and excellence of snowmobiling in the territory of the legendary lumberjack Paul Bunyan.

The tour begins about one half hour north of Duluth at Two Harbors.  An early afternoon arrival will give you time to get your sled out on the trail for a check ride.  Things start off officially with a welcome dinner that evening at our lodging accommodations; Superior Shores.  You’ll meet the rest of the group and get a briefing on the week ahead.

Monday, it’ll be “early to rise” as we’ve got a full day ahead of us.  After 160 miles on the remote Yukon Trail, we’ll be snug in our beautiful room in Ely, right between the Superior National Forest and the legendary Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness.

We so appreciated the luxury of the Grand Ely Lodge that we have re-modeled this tour so that we can spend two nights here.  Oh, they feed us really well here too.

Tuesday you have the choice of several different loops around Ely, on the Taconite, the Tomahawk or several of the local club trails.  Maybe the snow sculptures from the winter carnival are still standing and you and your  camera may want to visit there.  Whatever you decide, you’re going to appreciate two nights in one super nice location.

Wednesday we traverse the state and stay that evening in Tofte, right next to Lake Superior.  Lunch on the way will be at the very popular Trestle Inn.  You’ve had a full day of riding and chances are very good that you’ve had a Moose encounter or two so we give you a special pasta and beverage party in the lobby of our motel the Americ Inn.

You’ll be glad we saved you from having to stay out late because Thursday is a great ride. Your route will allow you glimpses of Lake Superior.  Our travel is on the Gunflint Trail, almost running into Canada.  Lunch stop will be at the brand new Hungry Jack’s hunting and fishing lodge.  Then it’s the Express Trail to Grand Marais. Finally, we ride into town and check into the Best Western Superion Inn & Shores.  WOW!!

Which overnight stay was the most magnificent; the Grand Ely Lodge or this fabulous Best Western.  See, that’s what we do best – we pamper you with fine accomodations.

Dinner is a grand affair, with the bestowing of the end of the tour Award on a deserving person.  Laughter is good for the digestive process – and it’s a certainty that you’ll be having much to laugh about.

Friday we return to our starting point in Two Harbors.  Our route will be on the North Shore trail with some side trips around Lutsen.  After you’ve loaded your sleds and started the drive home, you’ll be promising Mr. Bunyon that you intend to come back to his wonderful land.
