Your Alaskan adventure will be like none before it. Decker Sno Venture Tours was founded with the idea that snowmobilers wanted more from their sledding vacation than just ridding out of one location and back each day and after more than thirty six years of guiding people on true traveling rides with full support I guess Richard was right. So you’re asking; what does this have to do with Alaska? Well folks this type of trip in Alaska just hadn’t been done. Decker Tours set a new standard of touring Alaska five years ago with a complete 5 day ride staying at 4 different lodges.
Ok, let’s get this awesome adventure started! Your first day will have you arriving in Anchorage; you will be picked up at the airport and shuttled to your overnight lodging at the trail head for this tour where we’ll have our drivers meeting and very special Alaskan dinner at our guide’s cabin just a short distance from Kenny Creek Lodge. Your guide for this trip is Mr. Bill Leider; Bill is a good friend of the family, an awesome rider and fantastic guide and has been instrumental in making these tours possible. How does Halibut, Salmon, Moose, Caribou and if we’re lucky Musk Ox sound? Accommodations for the evening will be at Kenny Creek Lodge, a purpose built “snowmachine” lodge accessible only in the winter by snowmobile.
Day two will have us saying farewell to our hosts at Kenny Creek Lodge and heading to the Kahiltna River which we follow to the Yentna River then to the Skwentna River and finally the Talachulitna River and Talvista Lodge. The “Tal” is one of our guests favorite stops because of our awesome hosts the Poynter family; Chris, Sarah and Richard. This day will let you test your powder skills as these rivers are clouds of powder and the scenery is awesome.
Day three & four will have us saying farewell to our hosts at The Tal and heading up the historic Iditarod/Iron Dog trail to Rainy Pass Lodge. There are no words to describe this ride or this lodge; in fact it’s so beautiful that this year we are staying two nights with a ride on the second day to the top of Rainy Pass. Your host and hostess, Steve and Denise Perrins are filled with the history of the land and the Lodge and serve some of the best meals you’ll have on the tour. This part of the tour alone puts you in stratified air as a snowmobiler believe me, less than a scant handful have ever ridden here.
Day five will have us leaving Rainy Pass and heading to Bentalit Lodge about another 80-90 mile ride both overland and on rivers where you will have a chance to use your new found powder skills to carve up more virgin powder; or follow the packed trail laid down by the Ski-Doo super wide and just experience Alaska at its best. Bentalit is definitely a crown jewel of this tour, you will see what we are talking about once we arrive, truly spectacular!
Day six will have us leaving Bentalit Lodge and heading back to our departure point at Kroto Creek about 70 miles and transferring to Anchorage for your overnight stay and last night get together where we will award someone the infamous toilet seat award.
Day seven, say good bye to Alaska; the adventure has ended but the memories you will have for a lifetime. So there it is a true complete travelling snowmobile tour of some of the most beautiful areas Alaska has to offer snowmobilers. And they said it couldn’t be done; making history again on a Decker Sno Venture Tour, you will want to be a part of this one!
